Caves Ouvertes at Chateau du Crest, Jussy
The Caves Ouvertes is a firm entry in our calendar every year, and we always go to this lovely Chateau for the Caves Ouvertes in Geneva.
Word must have gotten out about this little gem of a place, because this year they have significantly extended their offering here.
Of course they had their animals and the little go-kart track made of hay as usual, but in addition they had live singers, a buvette, an craft area for children, a couple of oversized swings and an archery stand!
They had accordingly extended their car parking space which is a relief because every year their car park would get full.
Kai and his friend of course loved the animals, but also very much appreciated the huge tractors and harvester (? I have absolutely no knowledge of agricultural machinery) that they had thoughtfully parked in the main wine-tasting area. This provided a great distraction for this kids, though kept the parents on edge!
I must say that this makes for a nice outing. For us, it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon! Kai was sufficiently tired by the time we got home.
Luka had less of a good time, but as usual I think it’s better that he got to come with us, rather than staying at home alone.
For families this domaine is highly recommended, it has something for the whole family!
Fun factor for kids 5/5 : watch the animals, play on the karts and check out the tractors!
Fun factor for dogs 1/5 : it certainly isn’t Luka’s idea of a fun day out
Pram-friendly: Yes
Water access for dogs : No, but there is a non-potable water fountain round the back of the castle that your dog could dip in, on very hot days
Potable water: Yes there is a fountain in the main courtyard
Baby changing facilities : Not that we saw, but it is possible that they did somewhere inside since they seem set up for children
