Geneva Hiking with Dogs - May Edition - Vessy, Geneva

I happen to also be the organiser of a group called Geneva Hiking with Dogs, which I do on a voluntary basis and has been running for around 2.5 years now!

Walks generally take place around once a month, and I try to do them in different locations to encourage people living in all corners of Geneva and the surrounding areas to attend.

After a one month hiatus from Hiking with Dogs, we were back in Vessy for a walk this sunny Sunday morning.

Over the summer months, our choices for walks are limited as dogs need to be kept on a lead in wooded areas and other natural areas while the wildlife go through the reproductive period. Vessy is a good location because whilst it is a city walk, it is almost all off-leash and the walk takes you through woods, along the river and through fields which makes it feel like you are in nature!

We had 5 lively dogs, including two of Luka’s Vizsla friends so there was a lot of swimming and running around involved.

We also had two couples without dogs join us for a walk, which is always nice! One of the couples also attended with their little 10 week old baby so it was a dog and baby walk today.

We did the full loop as described in the Vessy post, which involves walking along both sides of the Arve, crossing over the bridge on Route de Florissant and back. We even met one of our other Vizsla friends along the way.

Thankfully this route runs along the river as it was a warm morning and with all the running around, the dogs were getting hot.

It was a lovely sunny morning and Luka is now passed out on the sofa, we have to go out shortly for a birthday party, I have a feeling he’s not going to be happy about the prospect of going back out again!
