Easter Egg Hunt in Plainpalais!

Easter Egg Hunt in Plainpalais!

A friend of mine who also lives in our neighbourhood told us about this Easter Egg Hunt taking place, which is organised by the Maison du Quartier de Plainpalais. Since it was right in our neighbourhood and we were free, we decided to participate!

We had three 2 years-olds in our group which put us at a disadvantage as they can’t move quite as quickly as the older kids; you really have to be fast to have much chance of finding any eggs! (Plus, the toddlers didn’t really have a clue about what they were looking for)

The briefing and start took place at Villa Freundler at 9am on Sunday 14th April. Here they gave out a map of the area where some 600 eggs had been planted and briefed everyone to some rules such as not taking more than 5 eggs per child.

We were a little delayed getting there despite living two blocks away, as Miya our second baby who was born a week ago needed a feed just as we were about to leave! That’s babies for you….I don’t think Kai will hold it against her.

As we were approaching the Villa, we could see lots of children and their equally competitive parents streaming down the streets grabbing eggs which were dotted along the route.

We met our friends at the villa and headed towards Parc des Chaumettes to make a feeble attempt at finding some eggs. We did find a couple between the 6 adults in our group though, but it was very hard to have any real chance since we kept losing toddlers every time we went past a play ground or digger!

At 10am they were putting on some refreshments at the Villa so we headed back to unwind from the intense egg hunting experience! We got some tea and tartines which the kids enjoyed before playing in the courtyard where the villa is situated. They were all sufficiently tired and Kai certainly had a great nap afterwards.

If you are looking for an Easter activity it’s a fun activity to do that’s free. Probably much more fun for older children as they understand what’s going on and can move a lot faster to try to find some eggs!

Fun factor for child: 5/5 - Run around and find some chocolate eggs!

Fun factor for dog: 2/5 - a leashed walk around the neighbourhood where you go round and round in circles….better than staying at home I suppose!

Pram-friendly: Yes

Water Access for dogs: No

Potable water: No
