Nature Walk - Loop walk with a panoramic view on Mont Mourex

This is a very family-friendly walk in neighbouring France, just near Divonne-les-Bains, within easy driving distance of Geneva. The walk is almost completely flat apart from a couple of short inclines, so can be done carrying your child or if your child is old enough to walk for 1.5 hours then easily doable.

Total walking time: Approx. 1.5 hours

There are two car parks to access this walk, I normally park at the Ferme de Mont Mussy which is just behind Divonne-les-Bains. From here you pick up the path leading into the forest straight up, and follow it until you come to a gate and take a left which brings you to the top of Mont Mourex with wonderful views!

Alternatively you can park at the Mont Mourex car park and do the loop walk in the opposite order.

The only point to ensure you stay on the right track is coming back from the top of Mont Mourex, back towards the Ferme de Mont Mussy car park, there is a sharp left turn as you go over the top of the mountain just by the Mont Mourex car park. Then about 500 metres after, there is a split in the path, keep to the right. If you end up taking the left one though it will also bring you back to the path you took coming out so you will get back one way or another!

The view at the top on a clear day is quite spectacular. There is a lookout point which shows you what you’re looking at as well.

The big field at the top is used as grazing pastures for cows during the summer months, so keep your dogs on a lead if they tend to chase cows.

The route is just about doable with a pram, though it’s very hard work so I do not recommend it! It would be much easier to carry your child.

Most of this walk is through the forest apart from when you are on top of Mont Mourex, so it’s a nice option if it’s very hot or slightly rainy.

Fun factor for child: 3/5 look at the nice views and maybe see some cows!

Fun factor for dog: 5/5 run around in the forest and the big field at the top

Pram-friendly: Not really, though it could be done with a running pram and a lot of effort!

Water access for dogs: No, be sure to bring water to drink on a hot day

Potable water: No

Baby changing facilities: No
