Swiss Vapeur Park- Le Bouveret, Valais
We finally had the chance to make a stop at this wonderful park, and happened to come over Easter break so there was an egg hunt organised. It was a fun way to spend the morning, topped off with a picnic with a view on the lakefront afterwards!
Dogs are allowed in the park but must remain on the lead, however are not allowed on the trains.
This park is around 1h20 from Geneva by car, or you can take the train which is just next to the park.
Single entry is CHF17 for a day pass for adults (over 16 years), and CHF14 for children aged between 3 -16.
The yearly subscription is also very good value at CHF50 if you plan to come more than two or three times a year. It also offers some discount to associated parks such as the Aquapark next door.
We stopped at the Swiss Vapeur Park on the way home from our stay in Champéry. Due to current restrictions, we bought and reserved our tickets for the morning slot in advance. I would definitely recommend coming for the morning slot, as the park was busy by the time we left at around noon.
It is set on the lakefront, with wonderful views of the mountains. It is entirely outdoors, so not a great option for a rainy day, however we were lucky to have been able to visit on a sunny morning in April.
For the special Easter event, we were given an empty egg carton upon entry and we were to find 6 eggs which are deposited in boxes around the park. This made the visit super fun, because it gave us a reason to walk around all of the different parts of the park! We would also spot the boxes whilst on the train rides, so that also made the rides fun for the kids.
I was pleasantly surprised that the train rides were longer than I expected, around 10-15 minutes. The park is big enough to have three stations to pick the trains up from, each with their platforms and display panels to enable you to make connections, if you wish.
The miniature trains varied from steam trains to electric, so you can enjoy riding different types of trains which take different routes, including a long tunnel and several bridges!
The park in itself is also interesting, with lots of different types of trees and plants. It even has a big pond, with lots of koi fish swimming around. The children enjoyed watching the fish and exploring the park as we made our way to different stations.
After finding all the eggs and trading them in for chocolate, we decided it was time to eat lunch, so we left the park and had a picnic on one of the benches along the lake, just outside the park. It was a wonderful sunny day, and made it a nice way to finish our visit here.
In case you don’t have food with you, there are a number of stalls about 300 metres away along the lakefront where you can pick up food and beverages.
We walked a little along the lake, enjoying the sun and the views, before heading home to Geneva. By the end of the morning, we had all felt happy to have spent a lovely morning as a family together and discovering more of what this wonderful region has to offer.
Pick the next sunny day for your family outing here, and you are sure to enjoy a wonderful time!
I highly recommend coming here for the special events as well: Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.
