Geneva Street Food Festival - 30 May - 9 June 2024

The Geneva Street Food Festival just seems to keep getting bigger every year!

We were back as we are every year to sample what the festival has to offer, and Luka did his best to pick up scraps too!

We made a day of walking along the river, stopped at the playground then walked to the Plaine in Plainpalais where the festival is taking place. However, if you don’t need to walk the dog/children, then there is a playground right next to the food festival and a pretty big skate park right next door. You could spend a while here if you wanted to!

Since there are some many stalls now, they have divided the stalls into sections, mostly based on geography of the originating foods. We walked by the Mexican/South American section, then Sweets/American section and onto the Asian section.

There was also a big tent in the middle, which also has one Japanese food stall inside.

Depending on the time of day, it can get very busy here, so if your dog is nervous or doesn’t like big crowds and noises, it is not advisable to bring your dog here. I did come here without the children on Saturday evening and they even had a DJ playing music live!

The children of course wanted nothing but a smash burger from Pretty Patty which we had discovered not long ago. Pretty Patty has teamed up with Belga to provide Geneva’s best smash burger and fries combo and it’s pretty good as far as burgers and fries go. Those two restaurants haven’t had to travel far to make it to the Geneva Food Festival however, since they are both within a few minutes walk of where the festival is happening. If you are a fan of them, you can visit them any time!

The adults tried to be a bit more adventurous and tried various other things. I personally have a thing for Corn Dogs and apparently so does half of Geneva, because the Korean Corn Dog stall definitely had the longest line! I got the ramen classic Corn Dog. It was not out-of-this-world amazing, but I was pretty happy with it even after a 20 minute wait to get one.

A tip is to bring reusable water bottles - there are lots of water fountains dotted just outside where the festival is set up, so you don’t need to pay money if you need water.

All in all, we do love a food festival, so if you do, it is definitely worth checking out!
