Geneva Hiking with Dogs - Versoix Forest, GE

I also happen to be the organiser of a group called Geneva Hiking with Dogs which I used to organise on a volunteer basis every month for several years. I took a break for a couple of years, which have flown by! I’ve decided I need to start organising these walks again more frequently and so organised one for this month at Versoix Forest, one of my favourite places! I forgot how much I enjoy these walks and meeting old friends and new. The dogs of course have a blast zooming around non-stop.

We met at the car park on Route de St-Loup which is free on Sundays and did a loop on both sides of the river, which took us just over 1.5 hours. If you would like to know the route, check it out here.

If you are interested in joining one of the walks, you will find the group on meetup.com, Facebook and glocals.com where I post any walks being organised. Myself and Luka would love to see you on one of the walks and discover new walks together.

I had invited some Vizsla friends to join and they turned out in force! So it was a predominantly ginger-coloured pack today! We had a few non-Vizsla friends join as well, and although a couple of them were significantly smaller than the crazy gingers, they got along well with everyone! We were quite the sight as the pack of 9 dogs frolicked through the canal path and woods! I do have a disclaimer that only dogs that get along with other dogs should join, and honestly we’ve had very few issues with dogs getting along on these walks.

My family decided to join so it also made for a great way to spend the morning together. Even though the group is called Geneva Hiking with Dogs, it’s really more of a walk than a hike, so the children managed whatever small incline there was in the route.

We had an obligatory stop off at the river, so the water-loving dogs got to swim and splash around.

There are only a couple of very short steep inclines in this walk, so totally manageable for children. Luckily the rain stayed away so we managed to come back without being too muddy, although the dogs did their best to cover us in water and paw prints!

I’m looking forward to the next walk together!
