Geneva Hiking with Dogs - October Edition - Bois de Jussy
I happen to also be the organiser of a group called Geneva Hiking with Dogs, which I do on a voluntary basis and has been running for a little over two years now!
Walks generally take place around once a month, and I try to do them in different locations to encourage people living in all corners of Geneva and the surrounding areas to attend.

The October edition took place in Bois de Jussy and we had a lovely group of 9 dogs.
Total walking time: 1.5 hours
To start the walk, you can park in the small car park on the side of the road right next to the woods. Alternatively I park on the verge by the tall trees a little further up the road towards Jussy, on Chemin des Grands Bois.

We had some of our regulars join as well as a few new faces, including a couple of Airedale Terrier brothers. They are a very rare breed, I’ve only ever seen this breed once or twice before and these handsome boys certainly lived up to their reputation of being the King of Terriers. We also had the first Portuguese Mastiff join us for a walk, another rare breed, which I hadn’t heard of before I met Barry today.

Today’s walk was a bit more eventful than usual to begin with as one of the female dogs who came was just coming off her heat so the intact male dogs were unsurprisingly a bit too keen on her! It did make me wonder how people who choose to keep their female dogs unspayed through their lives cope with dealing with a heat every 6 months! Her owners decided it was best to abandon today’s group walk, but we look forward to having her join next time when she will be less attractive to the boys!
